Can I use Compound W or a freeze-away wart remover on my dog? - 3/31/2010 - Wart Remover

He’s a puppy and has a facial wart which the vet can freeze off but will charge a lot of money or we can wait for it to go away but he says it could take 5 months. Anything in between? Home remedy? Thanks.

I think I would wait for it to go away on its own!

I would wait. If it wasn’t on the face maybe.

Do NOT use human remedies on your dog. It could be poisonous to him. Pepto-bismol and aspirin are two that come to mind that can be dangerous. I would wait or have the vet do it.

STOP asking for ‘home remedies.’ If you can’t afford to properly care for a dog then you have no business having one.

Don’t use the wart stuff. It is too harsh and will burn his skin. That’s how wart removal works. Either by acid to burn the skin or freezing to burn the skin.
Try coloring the wart with a RED ink pen for a few days. There is a chemical in the ink that sometimes works. It might fall off. If that doesn’t work then just leave it. It will eventually fall off and it won’t hurt him to have it.
