Is it possible to have HPV and never develop genital warts?

My sister was just diagnosed with HPV but she said that she didn’t have any warts or bumps. So I was wondering if she will ever develop them.

yes! it is possible that she can develop genital warts!
but it will happen wen her immune system will be weak! so she must keep her immune system strong! eat more healthy food, more vitamins and also do more sport activities!

Also, if she has HPV, it is important to have an annual pap smear because her risk of developing cervical, anal, penile cancer is higher.

Can HPV warts occur on your palm? and if someone has warts on finger and you handshake, can you get it?

The human papilloma virus can cause warts anywhere. I have a wart on my eye lid and inner thigh, I had one on my nose, and I have genital warts. My mother gave me HPV, not genital warts but the other types. It is possible.

Do males have less of a chance of developing gential warts from hpv then a female?

my g/f has hpv and just recently developed some warts… we have been sexually active for 4 months. She had no signs before then…

Men are less likely to be effective by hpv. As for your girlfriend hpv can lie dormant for years and years. They have no way of knowing how long you’ve had it or who you got it from. My hpv was never found until they noticed pre cancerous cells growing, so basically I have hpv and have no clue when I got it. Some hpv will go away, but once you’ve had it the vaccine is useless. Basically theres no way of knowing wether or not it came from you, but if you have it (which you prolly do since she does) you can pass it on to other women so you need to practice safe sex always.

i just got diagnosed yesterday with hpv and cervical warts. How do you get this and how does it spread?can cervical cancer kill you? please anything you know?

I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

There are about 30 varieties of HPV. HPV spreads through a process called shedding. Skin-to-skin contact causes dead skin cells to slough off of a person with the virus; if there is a break in your skin, the virus can get in and begin to make copies of itself, so that you’re now infected.

Because it’s spread by skin-to-skin contact, a condom will not prevent the virus from spreading.

Since this is a virus, there is no medical cure. In most cases, HPV is with you for life, though there are some strains that apparently can be fought off by the body.

You’re right to worry about cervical cancer, because HPV is a direct cause of about 90% of cervical cancer cases. Cervical cancer kills about 4,000 women each year in the U.S.

But relax. Now that you know, you understand why it’s important to have a regular pelvic exam and a pap smear done. Put these on your calendar, and don’t miss them. Have them annually, unless your doctor recommends otherwise.

Caught early, cervical cancer is very treatable. There will be noticable changes in the cervix before the cells become cancerous. The danger of cervical cancer is when women don’t get regular exams, and the cancer develops without them knowing.

If you are a guy, eric, then your warts can only be diagnosed if you have symptoms. There is currently no test for men available that will determine if you have HPV but have no symptoms.

And as a guy (assuming you’re a guy), I’m afraid that your choices regarding doctors are a bit limited and/or embarrassing.

Lots of general practictioners just don’t know a whole lot about STDs, unfortunately. A urologist might not be a bad choice, but I had a male friend whose urologist subjected him to "horrible tests" to diagnose a simple case of herpes. So I’m a bit suspicious of urologists, too.

As embarrassing as this may be, I would either find a local planned parenthood (who will accept you regardless of income, and who see LOTS of STDs every day) or a gynecologist. You’ll need to explain why you want to see them, but my attitude is that you should go to someone who has as much experience as possible with STDs – an STD "specialist" if you will – so that you get the benefit of their knowledge. Planned parenthood WILL see men, and you may not be the only guy in the waiting room, either. The last time I was there, several men were waiting – but they seemed to be waiting for female partners.
